Conducting maximum number of possible Normal Vaginal deliveries is our mission. We make it happen for every pregnant mother, approaching Nalam hospital for childbirth, by following systematic protocols.
- Our hospital staff are trained by Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FOGSI) team of Doctors under the program MANYATA and our Hospital is Awarded Certificate for compliance with FOGSI Quality Standard ensuring safe Delivery.
- We follow WHO International protocols in Obstetrics care from the time of conception of the mother till the time of delivery and in the immediate post delivery period upto 6 weeks. Hence, we identify the risk factors for major pregnancy associated diseases earlier and adopt protocols to prevent the disease.
- Our Labour ward is well equipped with comprehensive monitoring systems like cardiotocograph for fetus (baby) / Multi Para Monitor for mother and other life saving equipments and drugs.
- We educate the antenatal mother, her spouse and relatives and allow one birth attendant into the labour ward which gives the mother, immense confidence and support.
- We also offer painless labour by Epidural analgesia (given by our eminent anaesthesiologist), which helps us to conduct normal vaginal delivery.
- Availability of Inhouse Consultant Dr.Poongothai who is a well experienced Senior Obstetrician (conducted more than 20000 deliveries), ensures safe delivery.
- NABH (National Accreditation board for hospitals) has certified Nalam Hospital as a recognised Centre for giving care to “High risk pregnancies”.
- Our aim is to make the mothers enjoy the journey of Pregnancy, Delivery and post-natal period without any fear and achieve maximum possible number of normal vaginal deliveries
- Our ObGyn Operation Theatre is equipped with Laminar air flow which makes the O.T. environment absolutely free of infection and essential life saving equipments to conduct safe Caesarean delivery.
Neonatal Intensive care unit
Nalam NICU is a Secondary Care Unit where the newborn babies, delivered at Nalam, requiring intensive care are admitted. Many low birth weight, preterm babies born to high risk mothers are efficiently managed by our dynamic Paediatrician and the dedicated Nursing team with good results.
Fertility Clinic
Nalam Fertility unit provides services to the couple who need medical support for conception. Dr. Gajadeepan and Dr.Koothan are the visiting Fertility Consultants of Nalam Hospital. Nalam lab is well equipped with good quality Rosche hormone analyser. With proper evaluation, counselling and treatment, many couples had healthy babies.
Laparascopic Gynaec Surgeries
Key hole (Laparoscopic) surgeries have minimised post operative pain and discomforts, thereby reducing the number of days of stay in hospital. It also helps patients for speedy recovery. Our Laparoscopic unit (renowned brand of Karl Storz) helps us to perform surgeries with good precision. Many Gyneac surgeries including Uterus removal, family planning Surgeries, Tumor Removal are done safely for patients who are fit to undergo the particular Procedure.
Gynaec oncology
Regarding Management of cancer, “Prevention is always better than cure “ .We practice preventive Oncology by cancer screening procedures like PAPSMEAR,HPV deduction, Colposcopic evaluation of uterus mouth (cervix) and Ultrasound screening of uterus and ovaries.
We have visiting Surgical Oncologists, experienced in doing Oncology Surgeries both by Laparoscopy and also by open surgery. By identifying pre-cancerous conditions, early cancer detection and treatment are undertaken to ensure longevity and good quality of life for our patients.
Adolescent Health
Proper preservation of Teenage health lays the foundation for strong Motherhood. In our teenage health department (Adolescence).
We create awareness about importance of balanced food, exercise and maintenance of correct BMI. We Evaluate , Educate and try to Eradicate the root causes for

We have adolescent Immunization program ,in which Rubella vaccination is given to prevent anomalies in future pregnancy and
HPV vaccination – Prevents uterine mouth (cervical) cancer
Menopause Health
Menopause has its impact on women both mentally and physically due to withdrawal of hormones.
Counselling is given about the importance of life style modification in managing mood swings and maintenance of proper health.
Annual health checkups are done to identify gynaec malignancies in early stage.
